Meet Sham m

Sham knows what its like to be without school. In the middle of 2nd grade her family returned to Syria to see if they could restart life there. They spent almost a year there before the lack of stability, infrastructure, and security made returning to Lebanon a necessity. The year out of school meant that Sham had to repeat 2nd grade least year and work to remember the English language skills he’d forgotten in Syria. Sham worked hard last year and finished the year on the honor roll. She likes English because it helps her talk and write better. She enjoys coming to ALC because it teaches students how to improve themselves. At home Sham is a big help to her mom and likes to do things like her older sister who just finished 8th grade. She has three brothers, two who are still toddlers and an older brother who she has not seen in the three years since he and an aunt made the journey to Germany by sea in hopes of bringing the entire family to safety in Europe. Sham loves going to the park and dreams of becoming a doctor one day to help people in need.
